Hey there, I’m Darla Hawn!

I’m a native San Diegan who’s been in LA since 2015. I don’t miss it… because I’m down there often.

I specialize in short haircuts and low maintenance color. Barber-style and razor cuts make up a big part of my clientele, but I’m all about a root retouch, a balayage, and smoothing treatments, too. I love it all.

I’m always trying to help people find solutions with their hair and I will encourage you to “rock what you got”. I love helping clients learn to style their hair on their own and find products that help enhance or balance natural texture.

The salon experience can be so many things for people; some look forward to it like it’s time away, self-care. Some people need that time to get work done and for some it’s just a necessary box to check off. Wherever you land, my chair and I are here for you. I work hard to create a relaxed environment, catered to what you need each time I see you.

When I’m not busy working, you can catch me playing music around town, boxing or hanging with friends.

Consultation

Complimentary 15 minutes scheduled for first time clients to talk with Darla, get acquainted and create a plan for future hair services. Must schedule before booking color transformation appointments.

Base Color

For new growth touch-ups on brunettes, redheads or gray coverage. Not recommended for platinum blonde or highlighted hair.

A single color applied to the roots. $190+

A single color applied to the roots and pulled through ends or gloss. $220+

Highlights or Balayage

For a sun-kissed glow with depth and movement.

Mini: For less than two months of new growth wanting a hairline blend & toner. $225+

Partial: For less than three months of new growth. $275+

Full: For more than three months of new growth or wanting an impactful change. $325+

Platinum

For six or fewer weeks of new growth on current platinum hair. For clients wanting to become platinum/all over blonde please select Color Transformation. $300+

Toner

A demi-permanent color used to refresh current color, add shine and increase UV protection. Perfect for in between color services, before an event or a vacation. This is often referred to as a gloss, glaze or toner. $150+

Color Transformation

For any major change including brunette to blonde, blonde to brunette, first-time platinum or platinum with more than six weeks of new growth.In-person consultation required. Pricing can go up depending on length, density & time spent. $135+ an hour, 3 hour minimum.

Haircut

Long Haircut: for cut and style with hair length past ears. Including bobs or collarbone length hair. $135

Short Haircut: for hair shorter than ear length. Think pixies or Clark Kent styles: $100

Clipper Cut: clippers on the side or a barber-style haircut: $85

Dry Haircut: a cut on clean and dry hair: $100

Bang Trim: a trim on existing bangs. $25

Kids Cut: age 8 and under — no shampoo or styling included. $70

Treatments

Cezane Smoothing Treatment: a formaldehyde free, keratin treatment to smooth hair. This treatment targets and calms frizz, making hair more manageable and air dry capable. $350 without haircut - $450 with haircut.

Conditioning Treatment: an express add-on treatment to any service adding moisture and shine: $30

Styling

Shampoo and blow dry with light iron work. $85+

Policies

New Client Policy:

Please be sure to book a consultation if you’re booking a color appointment for the first time. This will be an initial 15 minutes for you and I to discuss what you want and how we can best achieve that. Consultation Appointment required prior to prior color transformation appointments.

Booking Policy:

All appointments are booked, rescheduled or cancelled directly through me or using my secure online booking site. For new clients please see new client policy.

Summer Hours is a host salon for Independent Stylists; meaning Summer Hours does not have direct access to stylists booking sites or client's information. By hosting Independent Stylists they provide an environment for stylists to work and amenities for clients experience. All bookings and inquiries should be directed towards stylists.

Cancellation Policy:

I understand that unforeseen conflicts may arise and rescheduling is sometimes necessary. You may reschedule or cancel up to 48 hours before the start of your appointment. If you reschedule or cancel within 48 hours of its start time you will be charged 50% of the price of your appointment. If you do need to reschedule or cancel, please contact me at darlarhawn@gmail.com.

Please be aware that arriving 15 minutes or later to your appointment time may result in a shorter service without price reduction. Later than 15 minutes or no-show will result in full service price charged to your card on file.
